In an interview of GMA News TV’s “State of the Nation with Jessica Soho” to Mayor Sara Duterte, she said that she was “afraid” for her father.

“Kaya ayoko nga din siya tumakbo at maging president kasi ayoko yung nakatutok lahat sa kanya, yung burden ng trabaho sa kanya. But kami nandito lang kami to support him, kasi nandyan na he,” she said.
“Pero ako what I really am, I'm afraid for him.”

When asked about her duties being the Davao City Mayor, she said that her focus would be on her duties as her father's replacement.
“Priority ko kasi, ma'am, yung position ko dito sa Davao City as mayor. Kung hindi naman kasi talaga ako tumakbo as mayor, pwede ako mag-full time dun. Pero, kung ano yung kailangan nilang tulong ma'am, pwede ako. Kung tawagin ako to do something, ready ako,” she said.

Nevertheless, Sara said she was happy that her father won and that she did not expect the outcome of the election.
