On Sunday morning, President Rodrigo Duterte mentioned more than 150 names of judges and local politicians (mostly mayors), who allegedly involved in illegal drug trade. His office later confirmed that there will be more names to be announced in the following days.

The day the president announced the names of local officials, the announcement became a very hot topic in Philippine’s Facebook as reported by Nielsen, and Twitter respectively.

On the other hand, news from unverified source close to the president said, his next announcement in the following week will include high profile catholic priests, activists, and other well-known religious leaders.

The information has just flashed on Facebook wall of an official close to the president, but later removed.

Duterte is close to Pastor Apollo Quibuloy, a known religious leader in Davao City. It was not clear who are included on the next lists, but the information said it will include a number of Catholic priests mostly from Luzon, and other powerful religious organizations.

The Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) condemns the killings of suspected drug pushers and addicts as a result of crackdown ordered by Duterte.

Meanwhile, former Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Rosales said Duterte is on the right track, showing support on the president’s war on drugs. /Fanny Jalacjac/
