President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday said police generals who are “tainted with corruption” should resign immediately from the force.

At the assumption of command ceremony for Police Director General Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, Duterte said: “Alam ko kung sino ‘yung mga generals who are tainted with corruption and drugs and you know, you better resign. You have no more future in the police.”

“Joke with anybody else but not with me because I have my orders from President Ramos, ‘do what is best for the country’,” Duterte said referring to former President Fidel Ramos, who was in the audience.

Duterte said he knows of small acts of corruption in the PNP, citing the conversion of gas stubs to cash.

The new chief executive, who took oath on Thursday, said there will be “zero tolerance” for the abuses committed by law enforcement agencies, including the National Bureau of Investigation.

On President Rodrigo Duterte's assumption into office on Thursday, Archbishop Socrates Villegas, the President of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), reassured him of the Church's support.

Villegas said the Church will support the Duterte administration but will keep a watchful eye during his term.

The bishop also expressed hope that Duterte would not see the Church as an enemy on occassions when the Church and the government could not agree on certain issues.

During the presidential campaign and even after the elections, Duterte had strongly criticized the Catholic Church, saying he will expose the alleged secrets and sins of the clergy.
Duterte even announced a date — June 29, a day before his scheduled assumption into office — on when he would divulge the alleged sins. No such revelation was made.

Villegas, on the other hand, took the opposite path, insisting on remaining silent amid Duterte's attacks against the Church.

In a statement entitled “Understanding Silence,” Villegas said, "There is virtue in silence. There is virtue in speech. Wisdom is knowing when it is time for silence and when is the timing for speech."

"Mine is the silence of Jesus before the arrogance of Pilate," Villegas said, adding, “Silence indeed is the language of God and only those who speak silence will be able to grasp Him.”

Reason to know about Anti-LGBT Law. 1) Law eliminates existing municipal non-discrimination protections for LGBT people and prevents such provisions from being passed by cities in the future. This means that only statewide non-discrimination laws are allowed, and the law passed doesn’t include protections for sexual orientation and gender identity. 2) Law forces transgender students in public schools to use restrooms and other facilities inconsistent with their gender identity. Additionally, access to facilities in all government agencies must be based on biological sex as well. That includes public universities. 3) North Carolina is the first state in the country to enact such a law attacking transgender students, even after several similar proposals were rejected across the country this year. 4) Because the law directly contravenes Title IX, North Carolina’s federal funding - at least 4.5 billion dollars- is put at risk. 5) The law also prevents cities from regulating in areas like living wage laws, benefits and hour regulations for workers in the city, city contracting, and even child labor regulations.

Just tell me the truth, ‘wag kayong mag-imbento ng istorya.”

Senator Richard Gordon thought President Rodrigo Duterte’s inauguration was “one of the best” he has seen in its simplicity, complementing the country’s new leader for “reassuring” words in his first address as the Philippines’ new top official.

Reached by phone, Gordon, among select guests invited to the inaugural held in Malacañang at noon Thursday, thought the tough-talking former Davao City Mayor was “presidential” in his speech.

“I think this is one of the best, very simple. If I were to do it, I would have done it that way,” said Gordon, who ran for President but lost in 2010.
“He is presidential today. He didn’t go overboard. The expectation was that he will go overboard,” he said, in apparent reference to Mr. Duterte’s known propensity to curse in his public speeches.

Gordon said Mr. Duterte addressed everyone that needed to hear a message from him, among them government officials, the business sector, and diplomatic corps, and the ordinary Filipino.

“He was speaking to the whole world, an entire audience of the world, and people are looking at him. And the words the world wanted to hear — rule of law, dispatch in business, lack of corruption, justice for all men — was spoken in well crafted language for the high and low,” Gordon said when reached by phone. MANILA, Philippines – It’s going to be a full day at the Batasang Pambansa on Monday, July 25.

President Rodrigo Duterte is delivering his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) on this day, an anticipated event for the nation. Duterte won over 4 other presidential candidates, with 16 million voting for him in May.

About 3,000 invitations have been sent for the SONA that will be attended by top politicians, diplomats, and former presidents, except former president Benigno Aquino III.

The day will begin early at 8 am with breakfast for members of the House of Representatives and the Senate at the Speaker Nograles Hall.

At 10 am, the lawmakers will proceed to the plenary hall to mark the beginning of the 17th Congress’ session.
The House Speaker, Majority Leader, Minority Leader, Deputy Speakers, Secretary General, and Sergeant-at-Arms will be elected at this time.

Davao del Norte 1st District Representative Pantaleon Alvarez, eyed as the next House Speaker, will host a lunch at the Speaker’s Social Hall at 12 pm.

All guests for the SONA are then expected to start arriving in the early afternoon because they are required to be inside the plenary hall by 3 pm.

Duterte will then enter the Batasang Pambansa, but he will no longer be welcomed by a large group of lawmakers as per tradition. He will instead be greeted at the entrance by Alvarez and Senator Aquilino Pimentel III, presumptive Senate President.

Also departing from tradition or common practice, guests attending the SONA are expected to come in simple business attire.

Incoming Senate Majority Floor Leader Senator Vicente Sotto III and House Majority Floor Leader-to-be Rudy Fariñas, also Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative, will escort Duterte inside the plenary hall.

Singer Bayang Barrios will be leading the national anthem.

The President is expected to speak at 4 pm about his war against crime and drugs, his plea for peace, his legislative agenda, and other priorities during the SONA. The event will end with cocktails at 5 pm. – Rappler.com

The new President Duterte is up for a challenge that he himself imposed–eradicate DRUGS, CRIMES and CORRUPTION ON GOVERNMENT in 3 to 6 months time.

Unbelievable isn’t? But like 16 million supporters, you must surely be a believer too?

But whether we give him ten years or forever, he can never made this done by himself. He is indeed in need of your cooperation or all of those plans will be gone to waste.

Can you grasp how hard this challenge could be? Noting also that most of the opposing parties particularly the LP are giving their doubts that he can make this happen.

The challenge would surely would not come easy but nevertheless is possible.

Do you wanna know why opposition find this so ridiculous?

Asia’s most corrupt nation

The Philippines formerly holds Asia’s worst corruption in history. We were ranked first in Asia as the most corrupt nation, where a less developed Indonesia is only a second placer.

“Definitely, in cannot be done in three to six months, even in six years. The problems are too serious and deeply rooted that these cannot be easily defeated,” Chiz Escudero told Inquirer expressing his doubts about Duterte’s promise to eradicate drugs, crimes and corruption in around three to six months.

Though through Benigno Aquino’s administration, our corruption status was reduced from number one to number two, the Filipinos are still hopeless that something could be done about our dirty reputation in eyes of the world.

Believe me or not an ample of evidence proves he is in part (either his own or by dictation of those behind him) of the gigantic corruption that happened during his whole six terms. The reason why his promise to eradicate corruption is a failure.
92% of Metro Manila barangays alone are seriously drug-affected Philippines is one of the world’s largest consumer on illegal drugs, of most production are coming from China and are distribute through Filipino drug pushers.

Drug pushers weren’t limited to the poorest class but involves mens on the highest ranks just covering behind their PNP, NBI and even PDEA uniforms. Yes, even those law enforcers dedicated to the restrain and eradication of drugs is themselves drug lords and pushers.

“Methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, and marijuana remain the most abused illegal drugs in the Philippines. Based on 2014 arrest data, 88.78 percent involved the seizure of shabu, while 8.86 percent covered the confiscation of marijuana. Dangerous drugs such as cocaine, ecstasy, ephedrine, ‘fly-high’ and others constitute the 2.36 percent of the drug-related arrests,” PDEA General Director Arturo Cacdac confessed to PhilStar.

PhilStar reported “…the street value of shabu ranges from P2,000 to P10,000 per gram, while marijuana is pegged at P18 to P300 per gram, depending on the area of transaction and quality of drug sold.”

Duterte is set to reintroduce DEATH PENALTY for heinous crimes

On an article BBC Asia reported, “Rodrigo Duterte says he will push for the death penalty to be re-introduced..he will seek to return the death penalty…He added that he would also seek to give security forces shoot-to-kill powers for suspects who evade arrest and those involved in organized crime.”

“What I will do is urge Congress to restore death penalty by hanging,” Mr. Duterte told reporters. The Philippines abolished capital punishment in 2006.”

But why? This must surely shock you but you had to know!

Did you know, that Philippines is home of two cities with HIGHEST CRIME RATES in asia? Yes, your reading those words right. Quezon City and Metro Manila are among of the ten cities with highest crime rates in asia as reported in the world atlas website.

Let me share with you some excerpts from that article.

“Quezon City …is a part of Metropolitan Manila, the National Capital Region of the country. The city has one of the highest crime rates in Asia, and is the one of the most crime-prone zones in the National Capital Region. Common cases of crime involve murders of males between the ages of 25 and 50, murders of jobless people and slum dwellers, of those engaged in disputes arising in the city’s karaoke bars. Periods between sunset and midnight are believed to be the most dangerous time when frequent killings are most likely to occur. Besides homicide, snatchings, thefts, rapes, and robberies are also reported frequently in Quezon…”

Quezon City ranked 9th while Manila, the capital city ranked 8th.

“Manila in the Philippines is a popular tourist destination, but the city also has a moderately high rate of violent crimes, and these are often targeted at its tourists. Mostly local criminal gangs, and, less frequently, individual hoodlums, are involved in the incidents of violent robbery and assaults in the city. The widespread and improperly monitored firearms ownership conditions in the city only add fuel to fire, increasing the cases of crime. Random acts of violence, kidnapping of foreigners, streets fights, and violent crimes triggered by excessive alcohol consumption are quite common in this city. Tourists to Manila are always advised to remain alert and be careful of their drinks to avoid cases of ‘drink spiking’, which involves the use of drugs in drinks to leave a person unconscious before looting or physically harming the incapacitated victim.”

Rodrigo Duterte wants a frugal inaugural affair at the Malacañang Palace when he takes his oath as president on June 30, with only 150 guests who will be served light snacks.
Duterte told reporters in a late night news conference Monday that his guests would include retired generals and diplomats.

LIVE AT MALACAÑANG PALACE!

Five-minute inaugural speech He said finger food would be served before he takes his oath because “there will be no eating after” that.

Duterte said it will be a quick ceremony which will be followed by a five-minute speech on national television to spell out his administration's plans and policies.

He said he wants a simple inauguration and refuses to hold it at the Quirino Grandstand where several presidents have taken their oaths of office.

Seven presidents have been inaugurated at the Quirino Grandstand: Elpidio Quirino (1949), Ramon Magsaysay (1953), Carlos P. Garcia (1957), Diosdado Macapagal (1961), Ferdinand Marcos (1965, 1969, 1981), Fidel Ramos (1992), and President Benigno S. Aquino III (2010).

He said he does not want to burden people with the heavy traffic that a Quirino Grandstand inauguration may cause.

Duterte said he also is looking for a Barong Tagalog made of cotton because the traditional barong made of jusi or piña cloth is “makati sa katawan [itchy].”

Davao or Malacañang? Duterte said he’s “still having a hard time deciding” where he will live as president – in Malacañang or back home in Davao City.

He said he doesn’t want to stay in Bahay Pangarap, because of the high cost of electricity that will be incurred by the government for that facility.

Bahay Pangarap, which is inside the Presidential Security Group compound, has been the official residence of President Benigno Aquino III during his six-year presidency.

Vice President-elect Leni Robredo thanks her peers and supporters after her proclamation. RICHARD A. REYES/INQUIRER FILE PHOTO THERE will be “no VIPs” at the oath-taking of Vice President-elect Leni Robredo on June 30.

Only close family members, including her three daughters Aika, Tricia and Jillian, and “the people who have been part of my journey,” have been invited to the modest ceremony on June 30, the outgoing Camarines Sur congresswoman said on Sunday.

Not even President Aquino, who actively campaigned for her and her defeated running mate, Mar Roxas of the Liberal Party, was expected to join her at the event, she said.

“Probably not, because he will be at the turnover for President-elect [Rodrigo] Duterte. They will still follow the tradition of the outgoing President welcoming the incoming President,” Robredo said in an interview in Japan, a transcript of which was provided by her staff.

A senior member of Robredo’s staff said they “had no idea” whether Roxas would be coming. “We made sure to invite the people who have been part of the campaign and really supported us—the volunteers and workers who worked tirelessly during the campaign,” Robredo said.

She said she also requested the inauguration committee to include representatives from the sectors whose interests she always fought for, including poor women, farmers and others on the margins of society.
“This is symbolic of the direction I want to take as the Vice President,” she said. She said only about 300 people could be accommodated at the Quezon City Reception House in New Manila, where she would be sworn into office by two barangay chairs, including one from the “smallest, farthest and poorest” village in her home district in Camarines Sur.

“In fact, we’re doing it outside the building because the office is really small,” Robredo said of the Quezon City building, where she will also hold office.

Duterte has decided not to invite Robredo in his inaugural in Malacañang on June 30, flouting the tradition of the country’s top two leaders being sworn into office together.

SPONSOR

Robredo said she would hold meetings as soon as she was sworn into office. “We understand that the Office of the Vice President has very limited resources. We have many advocacies we want to advance and many of these are antipoverty programs,” she said.

With so few resources and too little funding, Robredo said she would spend her first 100 days forging partnerships with the private sector for her projects.

“I am happy that many [companies] have expressed a desire to partner with us. In fact, we have initial meetings already and we will spend our first 100 days focusing on this,” she said. DJ Yap

On Wednesday, Private Attorney’s Office of the Philippines – NCR Chapter (PAOP-NCR), organized a symposium held in Victoria Retreat House in Batangas. The event was joined by more than 300 lawyers from different law offices around Metro Manila and surrounding areas.

One of the main topics discussed was the ongoing unofficial counting of votes, especially on the vice presidential race being clouded with controversies.

Although Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos won in NCR by more than 1 million votes against Cong. Robredo, some lawyers said they did not vote for Marcos, but saddened and worried by what is going on.

“The cheating is real. I did not vote for BBM because Allan is my close friend and acquaintance, but it is very obvious that the Aquino government is flexing its muscles to block the people’s decision to install Marcos as VP”, Atty. Nilo Catipon said.

“Whoever wins as long as it is a fair election, I have no problem. But the current trend suggests that Chairman Bautista may go to jail if the incoming Duterte administration will go after him legally”, Atty. Fausto Pobre of Sampaloc said.

Of 305 delegates, 298 lawyers believed that Aquino orchestrated that fraud, while the other 7 lawyers refused to give their opinion.

Merely two days before President-elect Rodrigo Duterte takes oath in Malacañang, more than 3,000 self-confessed drug pushers and users in South Cotobato and Sultan Kudarat have already surrendered. This includes the 1,000 drug suspects who surrendered last week, as there are also those from Sarangani and General Santos City.

According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), there are now a total of 3,146 individuals who voluntarily surrendered to various police stations in South Cotobato. Some 2,000 drug suspects in Sultan Kudarat promised to change for good in front of incoming Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mike Sueno.

South Cotabato Provincial Police Office (SCPPO) information officer C/Insp Conrado Jovero said that the figure is not yet final. According to him, the data is still being consolidated, and that people still continue to arrive. As of posting, PNP’s ‘Operation Bato’ continues to call on drug suspects to surrender and help eliminate illegal drugs.
And just like those who earlier surrendered in Quezon City, these self-confessed drug pushers and users said they surrendered because they are hearing news about alleged liquidation of drug suspects in various areas in the country. Nevertheless, surrendees are not being sent to prison, as long as they reveal their sources and undergo rehabilitation.

Meanwhile, authorities said they are now coordinating with various government agencies such as Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for their livelihood. On the other hand, qualified applicants can study for free via the Alternative Learning System (ALS) of the Department of Education DepEd).

Interestingly, this massive and record-breaking figure of surrendees is a first-time in Philippine history. Reports also say that selling of illegal drugs have been greatly reduced and prices are getting higher. As we all know, Duterte is very firm with his campaign in fighting corruption in government, illegal drugs and crime in the entire country.
