Iloilo City Mayor Jed Mabilog now fears for his life after being named as a narco-official by no less than President Rodrigo Duterte.

Mabilog, who floated at Camp Crame Monday (August 8) to insist his innocence, told Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Bato dela Rosa about his apprehension especially with all the alleged extra-judicial killings taking place.

“Katulad sa akin, katatapos lang po ng lokal na elections. And then may mga kalaban kami tapos tinanggalan mo kami ng aming personal security,” Mabilog told Dela Rosa to his face in front of over two dozen other implicated local executives.

“Syempre alam niyo naman ang nangyayari so baka maging biktima po kami. Concerned din namin po mga sarili namin, bigla kaming innanounce, ano pong mangyayari samin,” he said.
The politiko was obviously referring to the spate of drug suspect killings that began when Duterte assumed the presidency last June 30.

Over 400 drug offenders have since been slain in police operations, although some sectors believe that some of these deaths were caused by vigilante groups.

Duterte had repeatedly promised to stamp out the problem of illegal drugs within three to six months’ time.
