After outgoing president Benigno Aquino III vetoed the bill increasing the salary of nurses incoming Health Secretary Paulyn Jean Rosell-Ubial promises to refile the bill within the incoming administration’s term.
Ubial in a “Bandila” interview said that she recognized the importance of the bill.

“We intend to refile that bill and hopefully, Congress and Senate will support it because we believe that health workers should be given their due compensation,” Ubial.

Ubial said that they will not just salaries but the entirety of the benefit system.

“Pag-aaralan pa rin natin ‘yung totality how that would affect the other professions but, of course, we also are looking into the PhilHealth reimbursement. Kasi aside from salary, the health workers now get PhilHealth reimbursements. So titingnan natin ‘yung total picture and not just the salary based,” the incoming secretary said.

The incoming Health Secretary has 28 years of service under the DOH and served 13 health secretaries before her.
