MANILA - Former police general Isidro Lapeña on Saturday formally assumed his post as the new director general of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
During the turnover ceremonies, former PDEA chief Arturo Cacdac boasted of the agency's achievements in the past years under his leadership.
Cacdac said he is optimistic that Lapeña will continue the reforms the agency has started.

Lapeña, for his part, reiterated President Rodrigo Duterte's marching order for him, which is to fight illegal drugs in the country in a span of a few months.
"The three to six months suppression of drugs, it is doable," he said.

He vowed that there will be a relentless campaign against drug users, most especially high-value targets of the agency.
