Following the series of random drug tests initiated by newly installed Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald dela "Bato" Rosa, PRO Davao Region has started with their "annual cleansing" Tuesday. PRO Davao Region spokesperson Chief Inspector Andrea dela Cerna said that the 61 top rank officers who joined the command conference with Regional Director Manuel Gaerlan Tuesday were the first to undergo the test. "All of them tested negative on methampetamine hydrochloride and we are very happy about it," dela Cerna shared.
Another round of tests was also conducted among the lower ranks but dela Cerna has yet to disclose the results. There are 103 more individuals from Barangays Marapangi, Lubogan, and Lizada in Toril District, Davao City, who confessed their involvement with illegal drug activities late afternoon Tuesday. Toril Police Station Commander Chief Superintendent Jed Clamor said in an interview Tuesday, "This is a good start towards turning away from drugs."
