DAVAO CITY - Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founding chairman Jose Maria Sison on Tuesday said drug lords could spoil negotiations between the incoming Duterte administration and the communist movement.
Sison said the threat to the peace negotiations may not only come from from certain elements from the military, the elite, and the “imperialist” US.
Citing the supposed P1-billion bounty on the head of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte and incoming police chief Ronald dela Rosa, Sison said drug lords and crime groups could spoil the negotiations to embarrass Duterte, who has vowed to end criminality in the Philippines in three to six months.

“Kung gayon, hindi ako magbibigay ng pagkakataon sa mga hayop na ito para tirahin ako at ma-embarrass ang presidente, na mapagbintagan na ako ay 'di na-secure ng mabuti,” Sison said during a video conference with members of a non-government organization here.
Sison said his lawyers are still discussing whether he should go back to the Philippines, amid fears that he could be arrested on his way to the Philippines on orders of the US.
National Democratic Front (NDF) spokesperson Fidel Agcaoili earlier said that Sison's return from exile in The Netherlands is "now a ticklish issue."
According to Agcaoili, there is no direct flight between Holland and Manila, so Sison could be arrested in transit points.
“The U.S. has again come up with a statement that they have put the CPP and the NPA in the terrorists list. That really poses a problem. Kung mag-spoiler itong U.S. through its control of the Interpol (International police), then, they might present a warrant of arrest against sa kanya in Taipei, so, everything is kaput,” he said.
